ISOBEL'S CLUBHOUSE

Central Portland's Family Room

ABOUT ISOBEL’S CLUBHOUSE

Q: What is Isobel's Clubhouse?
A: It's a not-for-profit resource for families who live, work, learn and play in central Portland. We like to think of it as central Portland’s family room. Isobel’s Clubhouse is Zimmerman Community Center’s family program.

Q: Who is Isobel?
A: Isobel Faith Zimmerman was the daughter of an Oregon pioneer family. Her wish was to build community, and Zimmerman Community Center is funded through her bequest.

Q: What happens at Isobel's Clubhouse?
A: Families have told us they want messy crafts, story time and open play, multilingual play groups, and space for special events. We’ve scheduled all of these activities, and are open to new ideas as well. Share your hopes and ideas – we'd love to help make them happen! Check out our Flickr page to see pictures of recent events and activities.

Q: How much do events cost?
A: Our events have recommended donations. You can bring cash to the event, write a monthly check, or talk with staff about volunteering hours as an in-kind donation. The recommended donation is noted in the calendar listing.

Q: Who donated the space?
A: Gun and Tom Denhart donated the space. As Gun says, “We are happy to provide a clubhouse for families, a place to play, develop friendships and build community. Without children this neighborhood would be very boring.” Thank you Gun and Tom!

Q: Is there really no bathroom?
A: Please remember to use the bathroom before coming to the Clubhouse, as there is none on the premises. The nearby businesses’ bathrooms are available for customers.

Q: We’d like to donate to Isobel's Clubhouse. How do we do that?
A: Thank you! There are many ways that you can donate financially, give supplies and materials or contribute your time and talents. There’s more information on our donations page. If you have questions, please email us or call Nancy at 503.224.4636. Zimmerman Community Center is a 501(c)(3) so your donation may be tax deductible.

Q: Where is Isobel's Clubhouse?
A: It’s on the west side of NW 10th Avenue between Everett and Flanders. More specifically, it's between Hanna Andersson and Cupcake Jones. And near Henny Penny and Ben & Jerry’s. Pretty great location!
